Why DOCX
DOCX is editable and widely accepted. The USPTO asks for the specification, claims, and abstract of utility applications filed electronically in DOCX, and charges a surcharge for other formats. Other offices, such as IMPI, INPI Argentina, and INPI Brazil, have their own electronic filing systems; check which format they accept before you file.
